So holiday party season (& decorating) is upon us...starting with Halloween parties this weekend!

I thought I would kick off the season with a couple fun (and fast) ideas for how to make your pumpkin extra special this year...

1. You will need a pumpkin & lace fabric. I think this works best with a lace stocking/sock/nylon. To feed my obsession with white pumpkins this year I have a photo of a white pumpkin with black lace (in true Lindeman Events style.) If you have time you can carve out the pumpkin like normal and put a candle in it at night for the trick-or-treaters. The lace will give the design a spider web look. OR if you are busy and just want something quick to whip up, these pumpkins only take a few minutes to put together then you can put them up on the mantle just in time for your Halloween party!

2. You will need a pumpkin and some niffty carving tools you can pick up at a hardware store/craft store. This pumpkin will require some patience and is brought to you by none other than Ms. Martha. I will be testing my patience tonight when I try to recreate this at a pumpkin carving & pie baking get-together I am headed to this evening! I will be sure to post a photo tomorrow of how mine turned out. Wish me luck...but I think it will be worth the effort!

3. "Pupkin" -- I would hate to leave our company mascot out...Mr. Stanford is going to attempt a self portrait tonight as well... :)

Sneak Peak: Mountain Top Wedding

For all you skiers and snowboarders out there -- this is the ultimate place to have your wedding! During the Summer months you can use the facilities at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort as the backdrop for your wedding day. There are so many options for your wedding weekend and the lodging is really inexpensive.

You even have the option take all of your guests up the chair lift to the summit to say your "i do's" overlooking Mt. Rainier. SO beautiful.

Destination Wedding: Seattle

Check out this cake from a wedding where their destination was Seattle. This was a "sweet" way to incorporate Seattle into their wedding reception. This is the cake that Lura and Kelly cut in to. Be sure to check out their logo...love that umbrella. (And yes, we did have a some light rain that day to ensure guests had the full "Seattle" weather experience!)

Karen & Sam

These two were made for each other! Karen's sweet and fun demeanor matched with Sam's lovable and tender attitude carried the evening.

There was so much passion at this wedding--from the music to the shoes to of course, each other. These two know how to dress, throw a party and were not afraid to get up in front of all of their guests to preform a dance number or sing a tune. From the ceremony to the reception, these two were inspired by the hit show Glee to preform throughout their entire wedding day. It was entertaining to say the least!

The clouds were hovering around Newcastle Golf Course that day, but their sunny color palette of orange and teal sure brought sunshine to the entire wedding. We had fun weaving their colors through their floral and decor as it was so similar to the Amber & Ocean color palette we created for the Summer 2010 Seattle Bride Magazine issue.

It always happens...a bride and groom just have to have that special something for their wedding... and Anthony and Rina from Infused Studios were that something for Karen and Sam.
They so incredible to work with -- what talented and passionate photographers they are! I can see why Karen and Sam flew them all the way from Edmonton, Canada for their big day. These destination wedding photographers were on top of their game all night long...take a look...

Hi all,

Sorry I ave been a bit slow on the blog--wedding season must be here! I promise, we have lots to share!

Starting with newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Giovanelli...

I can't even tell you how great the photos are -- Kristen Honeycutt really outdid herself on this one! I am not even going to post some of my favorites because I am saving them for our annual "Best of 2010" photos blog in December. Stay tuned!!

When Casey and I met for the first time--we met, we clicked...needless to say, the rest is history. It is great to have so many clients that are such a "great fit" this year! Her and Joe are such a sweet couple and their wedding was in one word, FUN.

She and I sat down and started talking decor she really wanted the space to be breath-taking. Flowers, decor and the ambiance was very important to her. She wanted her guests to experience the "wow" factor and to set the stage for a memorable wedding and reception. Casey had an idea of what she wanted but really let us take the lead when it came to designing the space and dealing with the "details." I am glad she loved the way it turned out, because I had just as much fun with this wedding and really enjoyed the creative freedom she allowed me.

Words can't describe how beautiful this looked at night...there were over 100 pink votives surrounding the pond and many more floating...

AK Graphics did all of the darling place cards, seatting chart, programs and table numbers...Allison took our colors/patterns and ran with it! They turned out great!

I will say it again--for the couple hundred dollars you spend on lighting--you will be transforming your space a thousand times! Thanks to Wave Link Djs for lighting and DJ Brian Dale for spinning the tunes all night long!

Sparkler Exit--sending the bride and groom off to the Alexis Hotel for the evening, only to wake up and get ready to head for Sandals in Antigua for 13 days!! Now THAT is a relaxing honeymoon!

Sex and the City 2 Party @ Pearl

We had such a blast at the Sex and the City event we hosted at Pearl Bar and Dining on May 27. The ladies were out in full force and dressed to impress! All of the proceeds will be donated to Eastside Women of Purpose to aid in the fight against Human Trafficking. We raised close to $3,000 in raffle ticket sales.

A huge thanks needs to go out to ALL of the people that made this event such a beautiful success! Sponsors, donations, volunteers and of course...the guests for coming!! A special thanks needs to go out to Karan Dannenberg with Karan Dannenberg Clothiers for donating a necklace that Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the SATC2 film...check out photo below!

Guests checked in at Pearl Bar and Dining where they sipped cosmos, enjoyed the photo booth, nibbled on flavorful bites and participated in the raffle. They were then escorted up to Lincoln Square Cinemas where we pulled the raffles inside our private movie theater. Then of course the night ended with a private showing of Sex and the City 2. It was good to see the girls again! :)

Wedding Dress Trends Shifting...?

We are so thrilled to be hosting our upcoming SATC2 event in Bellevue on May 27! Last time the SATC movie came out, I was kicking myself watching all of these dolled up gals walking around Bellevue without an event to go to!

When I heard there was a sequel coming out I jumped at my second chance to throw a SATC party AND raise awareness for a cause that I feel so strongly for! Vanessa & Ryan

This wedding holds a special place in my heart because both the bride and groom are Cougs! Ryan and Vanessa met in Pullman and are now both engineers and live in Mercer Island. The wedding ceremony was lavish and decadent. St. James Cathedral was the beautiful backdrop for this traditional Filipino Wedding and Columbia Tower Club was the sky high reception venue for all 200+ of their guests. Vanessa had the PERFECT dress to walk down the aisle of St. James Cathedral. Reem Acra is know for their ball gowns--and let me tell you, this dress from Voletta Couture in Bellevue was drop dead gorgeous! (see photos below)

Random Factoid: For all you Team Coco fans out there--St. James Cathedral is where your beloved Connan O'Brien got married!

In true WSU Cougar fashion one of the colors of their wedding had to be Crimson. We accented the Crimson with Tiffany Blue and White. Guests were welcomed to cocktail hour at CTC and greeted with a Crimson Strawberry Spritzer, followed by an open bar of course (again in true Cougar fashion.) Guests were escorted to the 76th floor of the Columbia Tower Club for dinner and dancing. Vanessa, a woman after my own heart was obessed with having the right chair for her reception...they chose the gorgrous dark wood Chiavari chairs from Grand Event Rentals. They worked perfectly and were worth every penny!

Evil Eye

I am just so in love with planning weddings that have different cultural or religious traditions other than my own. We have so many different cultures and religions being represented here at Lindeman Weddings this year--I can't wait to start sharing all of them with you. Some wedding traditions I come across I find amusing but most often I find that there is so much meaning behind each tradition--it is just down right endearing.

So I just finished up coordinating a Turkish wedding and I can't wait to share the photos. Best genre of music ever by the way! During that entire reception DJ DaMarr from Wave Link Music and I were trying to contain ourselves--we just wanted to bust out and dance with everyone!

Until the photo debut I wanted to share one of the favors they gave to their guests. Each guest received a box filled with Turkish Baklava. Adorning the ribbon that was tied around the box was a bead like the one pictured below. This is called an 'Evil Eye.' A traditional bead/charm from Turkey and Greece. It is traditionally worn as some form of jewelry, or the bead is pinned onto sweaters and newborn children's clothing, etc. The 'evil eye' is meant to keep other people's envious thoughts from hurting you. I giggled to myself, thinking if there is any place I see lots of jealously, a wedding reception might be up there.

It started me thinking on envy and jealousy. It is everywhere. If something good happens to you, such as, you loose a bunch of weight, you fall in love, get married, become wealthy, have a baby, etc--undoubtedly there is someone that is jealous of your good fortune. I know you should strive to never be jealous of anyone else, but never really thought having protection from someones jealous thoughts hurting you--but they can very much.

Just an interesting tradition I thought I'd share...looking forward to sharing more cultural traditions as this wedding season unfolds. We have so many weddings of different cultures this year!

Hi all,

I want to share with you a few pictures from our photoshoot with the FABULOUS Kristen Honeycutt. Can you believe these were taken in February--what gorgeous weather we have been having, huh!? Kristi and I (and Stanford) had such a great time running around downtown Kirkland with Kristen--I can't say enough good things about her and her work! Make sure to check out her blog!

Our make up was done by Sequoia Leopold with My Flawless Tan & Make Up. If you are ever in the downtown Kirkland neighborhood--you must stop in and check out her studio. She has happy hour on Fridays starting at 3pm where her airbrush make up application is half priced. Great for a GNO or a hot date with your fiance perhaps!? :)

Many of our clients (and vendors) get to know Stanford (my pug), as he is often hanging around the office. He did such a good job holding it together for a few of these shots! Thanks to our uber talented photographer--we are excited to share these great photos!

Happy St. Patrick's Day & "Green" Wedding Tips

You can incorporate several elements into your wedding planning to make your wedding more eco-friendly.

Use biodegradable seed paper for your invitations; when planted in soil, they grow wildflowers.
Wear a vintage or previously owned wedding dress. Places to find vintage dresses include consignment shops, thrift stores, or auction websites. Some bridal shops also may specialize in the restoration, recycling and resale of wedding gowns.

After the wedding, think about donating your wedding gown to charity. There are charitable organizations who donate proceeds from used wedding gowns to their valuable work.

If you have your wedding and reception in the same location, it will lessen automobile emissions into the air.

Instead of renting a limousine or Hummer, try using a hybrid, compact car, or even a horse and buggy for a more unique, old-fashioned vibe. If two separate locations cannot be avoided, you can request that your guests carpool on the invitations or hire a shuttle bus.

Use local and organic food wherever feasible, and donate extra food to a shelter. Use local, seasonal flowers for the ceremony and reception. Another option is potted plants, which can be given to guests for replanting or donated to a local hospital or professional nursing facility.

Consider giving your guests wedding favors such as packets of seeds and bulbs, promoting sustainable and renewable agriculture for the planet.

Set up your bridal registry at stores that sell organic cotton, recycled glassware, bamboo home décor, and the like, reflecting your green lifestyle and values as a couple. As another option, you could request that your guests donate to eco-friendly organizations rather than giving other wedding gifts.

Rain, Rain, go away!

So if anyone out there caught the Bachelor last night, you would have seen Molly Malaney and Seattle's own Jason Mesnik tie the knot down in Cali. First off, I would like to say how much I adored her dress and how her bouquet complimented it PERFECTLY! I thought it was a beautiful wedding and a gorgeous venue, but I felt so bad for the wedding planner and event designer having to make that event unfold out in the rain and wind! Setting all of that up in the middle of all that rain must have been challenging! Molly had an awesome attitude about it though--didn't you think?

Here in Seattle with the unpredictable weather, I have been in that situation more than once. I leave it up to the bride and groom to make the call whether to have the wedding inside or outside. 'Your Day, Your Way' is a motto we LIVE by around here! I am always up for a challenge, and I know how much it means to some clients to have their outdoor ceremony...but I have seen go both ways. Sometimes they get lucky and they have a beautiful sunny ceremony but I have also seen the skies open up right in the middle of the ceremony before also.

So for all of those brides out there who will be making that decision in the upcoming months--just think about Molly and Jason's wedding...how will would you react if it started down pouring in the middle of your vows? If you would laugh it off like she did--then go for it, but if you would end up balling and worried about your make up running down your face--probably best to stay safe and move it inside!

Here's to wishing Seattle a long, mild and sunny 2010 wedding season!

Dinosaur Wedding

The time has come to unveil the dinosaur themed wedding...FYI--this might be the longest blog post in Lindeman Weddings & Events history...

This wedding is featured in Seattle Bride Magazine newest issue on how to make a unique themed wedding classy. I want to tell you more about how this wedding and theme unfolded. I hope this story makes you smile...settle in and enjoy!

When Ryan and Natalie first came to me I instantly knew they had never so much as opened up a wedding magazine before. While this might be surprising to some brides who have dreamed about their wedding since they were a little girl, there was something fun and refreshing about a couple that didn't feel the need to have the "traditional wedding" spread.

At our first planning meeting I asked them what they envisioned for their wedding day and they said, “I don’t know, whatever you think will look good.” Not so much as a real color palette to go on, I sent them home with homework; questions that would get them thinking about how they met and their common interests, etc. I was so excited when they called to tell me they had figured out what it was that their common interests were. They both have always had a passion for Dinosaurs and Japanese Anime (they met in Anime club in college.)

I giggled to myself and said, “Sure let’s do it—it actually sounds like a lot of fun to plan.” Over the months of putting this wedding together Ryan and Natalie really started to take an interest in planning their wedding--down to the little details. Lots of fun ideas were circling the table at every meeting and we had so much fun brainstorming fun ways to make this wedding uniquely theirs.

We married the Japanese Anime to the Dinosaur theme by having the wedding hosted at the Japanese Pagoda at Point Defiance Park. The ceremony was up against a background of lush palm trees and foliage. The reception had so many unique qualities and it put a smile on every single guest’s face that was in attendance. This wedding truly had their personalities woven throughout every detail.

Twelve Baskets did an outstanding job with the catering! Natalie and Ryan couldn't decide on what type of food they liked, so we did an 'Around the World' themed buffet stations. Pan Asian, Home front Theme, Italian food, etc. It was delicious and so well decorated. Just another way we made this wedding unique!

From the start I don’t even think the bride and groom were all that excited by the formality of planning a wedding...but by the time the wedding came I haven’t seen two people more excited and joyful to walk down the aisle to start the rest of their lives together.

I hope this wedding inspires people to do what they want for their wedding day--it is YOUR day and there are NO RULES. While I enjoy planning traditional weddings I had a blast thinking outside the box and getting creative...as did every vendor involved on this wedding.

Thank you to Ryan and Natalie for letting me exercise my creativity, it was so much fun to plan with you guys! I also want to say a BIG thank you to Natalie's family for being so open to this idea and trusting me all the way from the east coast to create a unique, yet classy day for Natalie and Ryan...no matter how outside the box the ideas got! It was such a pleasure working and getting to know all of you!!

Lastly, I want to thank all of the vendors involved in helping make this day so beautiful and fun to be a part of.

Meet Natalie and Ryan

This wedding fell on the week that was super HOT last summer, so we made sure that the guests were well hydrated with bottled waters from Bottle Your Brand at the ceremony, followed by an Italian Soda Bar for cocktail hour.

If there was a wedding in the Jurassic Park movie--I would assume the bridesmaid's bouquets would have looked something like this...

Bringing the Asian vibe to the wedding with programs that doubled as fans for this scorching hot day. Thanks to Paper Fling for this creation!

Kent with 'A Heavenly Ceremony' presided over Ryan and Natalie's wedding ceremony at Point Defiance Park. It was beautiful and full of emotion--and one of the few weddings of last year where the bride and groom waited to see each other until the walk down the aisle!

Ring bearer "pillow"

A big Thank You to Ruth from Paper Fling (again) as the bride and groom sent approximately 10 names of 10 different dinosaurs--we had to go on the hunt to find the photos that matched the names! (Clearly we were not as well versed in dinosaur species as they were.)

The guest's place card was a Chinese box that they picked up (empty)--after they found theor place setting they got to mozy on down to the Dino "candy bar" complete with dinosaur eggs, etc. It was a creative way to save money as well--combining the place card with the favor!

Here at Lindeman Weddings and Events, we offer a "candy bar" service. We rent the vases, scoops and get all of the candy prepared for your spread...we even found Dinosaur Suckers for this wedding!

The use of Monstera Leaves to replace chargers was also a creative yet cost effective way to bring the jungle/Jurassic Park feeling to the table! Don't forget the bamboo flatware and chairs from AA Party Rentals!

A truly epic cupcake scape created by Coco's Cakes. The center being a volcano (that the bride and groom cut into, surrounded by cupcakes for the guests to eat or take home. In the next couple photos you will see that Kristin from Coco's Cakes (my fabulous and wildly creative sister) created a dinosaur chasing after the bride and groom as they are trying to get away in their jeep. (All figures made out of fondant, then painted!) Coco's Cake's info is available upon request.

Seattle Bride Magazine -- Unveiled

Hi all, Can you believe January is over already! I have so much to share in the upcoming months--new weddings, new trends, upcoming events and unique wedding ideas.

Today I want to share the Unveiled spread that I was asked to help design for Seattle Bride Magazine (on newsstands now.) It was such a treat to be a part of this! I chose the color Turquoise as a hot new color for 2010--it just so happens that a few weeks later Pantone announced that Turquoise was the "it" color for 2010! Love it when that happens! =)

I was literally just getting off the plane from my trip to the Caribbean when I was asked to design this spread, so adding some flavor of the tropics was fresh in my head. My goal was to bring a bright, tropical and fresh color palette to Seattle but use it in a way that would work for a perfect Seattle summer wedding. Without further ado...Amber and Ocean...

A BIG Thank You to all who visited us at the Seattle Wedding Show this year! It was so great meeting all of you--Kristi and I are really looking forward to working with many of you this year on your wedding!

Our booth colors were our classic Ivory and Black, but this year we chose Turquoise (and some bling) to accent and jazz it up....a bright and bold way to kick off the new year in style!

Spring Elegance

Hi all,

Thought I would catch up and start blogging some more of the fantastic weddings of 2009. So often I write about the wedding details, but I strive to tell more about the couple and the unique relationship each couple has. The couple married with the wedding details are what makes weddings memorable.

Meet Laura and David...they are two (very passionate) folks, whom are two very different people...yet they are strangely meant for each other. I smile when I write this because these two and the way they act together hit very close to home... =)
(All who know Ryan and I will understand!)

To reconcile any differences with regards to the wedding palette they each chose a color. Laura picked green and David (for the love of his Alma matter, chose purple.) Behold, an elegant spring wedding of purple and green...uniquely in tune to their passions.

Hats off to Kristen Honeycutt for the most outstanding photography at this wedding. This is just a small sample if the photos from this wedding..there were so many good ones to choose from!!

Tis the season for decorating! I want to share a couple ideas with you to help inspire what festive decorating path you are going to take this season...

First, we have a more elegant holiday inspiration with lots of cranberries, clean lines and traditional forest greens. I especially like the chairs--so easy to do with ribbon, a pine cone and a winter greens.

Second, we have a more modern and crafty holiday inspiration. The traditional forest green has turned to apple green and instead of the deeper red, this is a much brighter red. You can pick up similar candlesticks like the ones in the bottom photo for less than $10 at IKEA!

Apple Cup Wedding Palette

The Apple Cup is just around the corner so I wanted to share some inspiration with all of you Dawgs and Cougs out there.

What happens when you graduate from WSU, you meet the man of your dreams and he turns out to be a Dawg (no pun intended, I swear)? As it turns out--you both happen to be equally passionate in cheering on your Alma Mater. The time comes when he gets down on one knee and proposes...then you realize your divided families and friends have to come together to celebrate on your wedding day... What to do?

Learn the art of compromising early--the bride and groom each gets to pick their own color to contribute to the color palette...and I bet you all can figure out how this wedding turns out!

Silver Lining

Meet Rebecca and Juan Pablo...they are two people that have gone through so much in their lives and have worked very hard to get where they are today. These two are so reassuring in the way they support each other as well as their overall attitude toward life. Even when their ceremony had to be moved inside because the weather wasn't holding up (in August), the bride and groom still kept a smile on their face.

Always finding the silver lining in life translated into a traditionally elegant wedding of shimmering navy blue and white with silver accenting of course! Long dresses, tuxedos, candlelight, white Thai orchids, fine wine and a multiple course surf and turf menu were just a few of my favorite things that made this regal evening so memorable! Congratulations Rebecca and Juan Pablo!!

A Fabulous Fall Wedding...

Meet Rebekah and Jonathan...these two had enough passion and love for each other to make everyone in attendance fall even more in love with their significant other. Laura (my assistant) and I sat there during the ceremony and watched these two cry the entire way through; unable to complete sentences because of the overwhelming emotion...(tissues please!) We both agreed after witnessing their ceremony we just wanted to go home to our husbands and give them a big hug. These are the rewarding experiences that make my job so worth all of the hard work...thank you both for choosing me to play such a big part in your special day.

Thanksgiving Dinner Party

Hosting Thanksgiving this year? I want to share a few ideas on how to make your dinner party stylish yet festive. Most dining room tables have some sort of light fixture above it ... maybe a chandelier? If so, don't forget to decorate that to coordinate with your theme. In the photo below they draped the fixture with grapes and grape vines, really tying the whole room together!

In the photo board below, I want to point out the place card of flowers that you can hang on the back of a chair. Sometimes the table can be so full of food being served family style, the centerpieces need to be scaled down. This is a way to bring festive floral into your setting without it taking up space on the table.

Give your guests a fun cocktail as they arrive. The Blood Orange Prosecco cocktail is just that. Add blood orange juice to your glass of Prosecco and garnish with a slice!

Kristi's wedding last weekend was a fabulous family affair! They say it takes a village to raise a child, well it takes a village to make a wedding happen as well. From the cake to the favors...Brie and Kenton were so fortunate to have so many friends and family members step up and pitch in on their big day! It was such a pleasure working with everyone involved, especially one of the best Mother's of the Bride any bride could ask for!

Something Bold, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Ice Blue

A Fabulous Winter Wedding Trend...

I love Ice Blue as a base for a winter wedding color palette--and what is an ice blue wedding without a little bit of vintage bling! Implementing family heirlooms has taken the Seattle wedding world by storm. Brides are using their grandmothers broach to doll up their bouquet wraps...it is doubles as your something old and something borrowed too!

It doesn't have to be a piece of jewelry...I think a cute idea would be to dig through your grandmother's closet until you find a suit jacket with a couple adorable buttons. Take those to your florist and have them attach those buttons to your bouquet wrap.

Here is some inspiration for you winter wedding folks out there...

Some of you are probably looking at these photos and are thinking -- how cute are those shoes?--But once you look them up you will find that they retail at Norstrom for around $400. For those brides that can't afford the $400 shoes or the $2,000 diamond cuff--no worries--I have already done the research for you!

Take a look at these awesome finds...

The shoes on the left are the shoes that retail at Nordsrom for around $400. The shoes on the right can be found for around $60. The brand is called RSVP and they can be found online at www.6pm.com.

As for the $2,000 bracelet (pictured left)--I found the stunning cuff bracelet (pictured right) at www.whitehouseblackmarket.com for less than $50--What a seal!

Caribbean Flavor

Tim and Lisa celebrated their 10 year anniversary by hosting a One Day Caribbean Vacation for over 100 of their friends and family. They renewed their vows and their three children each read readings from their original wedding ceremony...how cute is that!?

This casual yet elegant event was held at a private Hollywood Hills estate and the menu was incredible. Jerk Chicken, Saucy Shrimp and Pulled Pork just to name a few. The brownie and blondie bar with all of the dipping sauces was an awesome substitute to wedding cake I must say! Sandra from Outrageous Offerings out did herself yet again!

The bar had 5 signature cocktails not to mention many of the wine makers in the area shared some of their fabulous wines! From Mark Ryan to Stevens Winery to J. Bookwalter-- there were many wineries represented at this shin dig.

How adorable is this menu? This larger than life bar menu was created by Ruth Song at Paper Fling.

This was such a fun event with regards to flowers as well. Take a look at these beautiful roses and orchids. They coordinated well with the bamboo tables and chairs provided by AA Party Rentals.

As the guests arrived they were greeted with a pair of flip flops and a lei. The mood was set by Pan Essence, the incredible steel drum band.

The Scotch and Cigar bar was an absolute hit!

Happy Friday Folks!

I am just overwhelmed at how much I love my job sometimes! While it can get a little stressful at times, it is all worth it at the end of the 'wedding' day. :-) I really love what I do and can't get enough of weddings! Hi all, I know it has been a couple of months now in the new office--but moving into a new space and having to remodel it from top to bottom was quite the chore in the middle of wedding season. I don't have any professional photos of it yet--because I still have some work yet to do. Below is a teaser photo of the new office to hold you over until then! I will have new photos up once the office is "officially" finished and the season starts slowing down a bit...

I am SO excited that it is becoming the place for brides to come hang out and get inspired for their wedding day. We have linen samples, magazines galore and we will soon have our inspiration photo books done by color that you can pull off the shelf and dive into! We have a mock up table that we can create for those, "I can't quite visualize it" brides as well.

I love sitting down with my clients and using all of our collective ideas to create a unique wedding day. Inspiration can start with just one photo and after we all have our ideas and opinions bouncing off each other--I promise you will walk away feeling excited about your wedding day!

I want wedding planning to be fun--not stressful! This is a place that we can meet vendors and talk about the nitty gritty details over a warm cup of coffee or sometimes a glass of wine is an order...

So you could say that this summer had a few hot spells--A lot of weddings were so worried about rainfall when really who thought the sunshine would ever be too much to be a problem!?! Good ol' Seattle weather!!

I love this picture that was taken on a hot wedding day in July--these bridesmaids took sips on their 7-Eleven Slurpee's in between photos to beat the heat--ended up making for a cute photo... Thanks to Alante Photography for catching this creative photo opportunity!

It's Friday! I hope you all have a great weekend! I have an awesome wedding coming up tomorrow--well actually it isn't exactly a wedding--it is a 10 year anniversary vow renewal and a Caribbean flavor themed reception to follow! Can't wait to see Tim and Lisa re-tie the knot with their in front of thier children, friends and family. How fun is it that their three kids get to be there to witness Mom and Dad renew their vows and see how it all started!? It is so fun to see people excited to celebrate their marriage--marriage deserves to be celebrated!

I am also looking forward to the fabulous menu that has been prepared...the pulled pork is making my mouth water already!

So I have been hearing about some fabulous honeymoon destinations from clients lately! I want to share some of the top I have heard about and a few destinations I have been to as well...

I will start with a couple of BUDGET options:

For around $120 Canadian per night there are some fabulous deals to be had at the Westin in Whistler this summer! What a steal!

All I have to say about honeymooning on a buget is... Costco Travel Especially Mexico!

MEXICO
The winner for best Mexican honeymoon this year goes to Le Blanc Resort in Cancun. I haven't been there but some of my clients photos from there were absolutely amazing!

A couple years ago I stayed at the Couples Resort (Swept Away) and I am taking some time off at the end of October to head back to the Couples Sans Souci Resort. I can't wait to go back!! Couples has 4 intimate properties in Jamaica and they consistently are ranked in the top 100 resorts by Travel and Leisure Magazine--which is no surprise!

If you are thinking Sandals and don't know which one...head to the Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa. I have heard great things about this resort and if you are looking for a discount to claim at this resort--shoot me an email as I am a Sandals representative!

HAWAII
I have been all over the Hawaiian Islands and I would have to say if you are going for romance and lush beauty--head to Kauai. If you are looking for the nightlife--head to Maui. If you are looking to hang out in the local villages or stay in a fabulous resort, I would definitely head to Kona on the Big Island. Best resort would have to go the Waikaloa Hilton on the Big Island.

EUROPE
Looking for romance? Head to Venice! One of the favorite cities I have ever been to...check out this gem called Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal.

Not really into the Hotel or Resort scene? Try www.vrbo.com. It is a vacation rental website where you can find a villa, condo or home to rent just about anywhere in the world at any budget! I have used this website many times and have always had a great experience. One couple I know even rented an apartment in Paris for an entire month for their honeymoon (for the cost of 1 week at a resort!) Great deal to soak up some culture if you can get the time off!

Fresh Lime Twist on Italian Romance

Frst and foremost--Congrats to Nick and Nicole!! The word that best describes this wedding day is: Intimate. This was a smaller wedding nestled inside the rustic walls of Delille Cellars in Woodinville.

The fire was crackling and the wine was flowing all night long as Nick and Nicole's guests ate their Italian feast. The food was elegantly prepared by 12 Baskets Catering and served family style which I highly recommend for smaller weddings by the way!

This couple really liked the modern color palatte of lime green, black and white. We rented all of the china and chargers from Totally Tabletops which really brought the tables to life!

Throughout the night many heartfelt speeches were made about the couple and towards the end of the evening the newlywed game was played with 5 married couples--including the bride and groom of course!

Lighting 101

Lighting is the best investment you can make for your wedding...second to your wedding planner of course! :-)

It doesn't take much and it can be very inexpensive! At the very least simple white up lights will do the trick, but if you are feeling a little more in the mood to spice your reception up a bit, pick one of your accent colors and run with it...but be careful and use sparingly when using green or blue up-lighting--it makes people look sick and blue lighting suppresses the appetite! Always make sure to hire a professional for your lighting needs!

Example: Here are before and after pictures from one of my weddings last year--what a difference the lighting makes! The simple up-lighting in this picture ran about $300 for the entire room!

Contemporary Romance

This wedding beautiful took place at the W Hotel Seattle (where we are preferred wedding planners--shameless plug!!) :-) Tiffany [the bride] loved the contemporary style of this remarkable venue yet loved the romance behind a sheath lace dress, pearls and white peonies. Our goal for this wedding was to marry the mystical and contemporary side of this couple to the romantic, softer side. With all of the hustle and bustle on the day of the wedding it can become so chaotic and nerves can start to get the best of you. Well, one of the grooms I worked with was ahead of the game and ordered a very LARGE bouquet to be sent to his bride the morning of the wedding. They had spent the night before the wedding apart and when she awoke there was a delivery man at the door in hand with her favorite flowers and a card reading, "Forever starts today my love."

I just thought this was a sweet idea for the groom to do for his leading lady the day of the wedding--it even had me holding back tears!

That just started their day out perfectly--no matter what went wrong after that, the day started perfectly and at the end of the day they were married. I am happy to report that the wedding went very smoothly and the bride's calm demeanor helped relax the ceremony and reception atmosphere...I am pretty sure that starting off with somthing sentimental had somthing to do with that!

Ladies--don't forget your men have nerves and upset stomachs too. Send him a little hand written note to be delivered by your maid of honor or wedding planner while he is getting ready!

Time Saving Trick for Address Labels

So there are a lot invitations going out right now or at least being prepared to go out soon...and a lot of you aren't paying someone to do it for you. A lot of brides take on invitations to save money or just because they love being crafty. Either way...as you look down your list of address you might think you have a whole weeks worth of work cut out for you just typing all of those address onto labels...then place cards, then thank you cards...ahhh!

Don't stress...I am here to tell you that you can move hundreds of address on to a label template in Word in under 2 minutes! I would suggest going through and proof reading all of them for format and spelling errors but at least you have the hard part out of the way!

The secret is a Mail Merge in Microsoft Word. Depening on what version of Word you have it can be different...so go to your paperclip helper and type in Mail Merge for further directions. It might take you a couple minutes to figure it out but once you do...it will go very quickly! You should have all of your address in Excel or Outlook first and then import them into your mail merge.

Mountain Springs Lodge

My hubby and I had the pleasure of staying at Mountain Springs Lodge for a couple days this last weekend. It is a wonderful property near Leavenworth and a perfect space for a wedding if you are looking for that Aspen, Colorado lodge feeling. We stayed in one of their suites and had a private multiple course dinner cooked and served by the chef himself! It is such a beautiful family owned property and there are so many spaces, areas and venues for having your wedding. They are so flexible and over 90 of your guests can stay in one of the multiple cabins on the property. There is more off site lodging within a couple miles as well.

In the summertime there are plenty of trails for you and your wedding guests to go horseback riding, golf and play in the grassy acreage. In the winter time there are snowmobile trails for miles as well as horse drawn sleigh rides. Very romantic! Ryan and I really enjoyed our stay there and got to tour the property and facilities for where up to 350 person weddings take place. A Moroccan Fete

Olga Earle and I were very excited to host a meeting for the Association of Bridal Consultants last week! Olga is the owner of La Belle Reve--a beautiful bridal salon in downtown Bellevue. We hosted the event at her shop. Although it was a tight fit, we were able to transform the room in to a Moroccan themed event. Swagging draping, pillows, lanterns, champagne cocktails, tapas and a night of entertainment!

Olga and I put our heads together and designed this event and we wanted to bring the hottest trends of 2009 into play as well. Color is a huge trend of 2009. We found ways to bring lots of color into this event--through the food, entertainment, linens, drinks and lighting. Lighting makes a huge statement when trying to create a feeling. We hosted a fashion show of some of the most colorful bridesmaids dress of 2009 as well. Our models were absolutely stunning and did a great job! And what would be a Moroccan Fete without a belly dancer!? Oh my! When Nadira started dancing she was captivating. The room was in total silence...until she unleashed the interactive part of the performance bringing a few good sports up on stage to teach them how to belly dance! The whole room echoed in laughter. Needless to say the event was a huge success!

Looking to firm up before the big day?

I have been attending some of my bride's dress fittings lately and the number one thing I hear is..."Don't worry about letting the dress out yet...I plan on loosing some weight."

While all of my brides are beautiful and do not need to loose any weight, I totally understand the feeling...I was a bride once and know how important it is to look and more importantly feel on your big day! Well, let me share a little secret with you...

Hot Yoga of Kirkland

Some of you might think, yoga is for wimps...I dare you to take a class! ;-) I was a little apprehensive at first as well...but from the first class I was hooked. You have to be able to withstand heat and be prepared to sweat, sweat, sweat! You can burn up to 1200 calories a class if you work hard. I did Hot Yoga before I got married and felt beautiful the day of my wedding. I was fit, toned and radiant...I felt great! I have been attending Hot Yoga of Kirkland off and on since I got married and love going ever time!

Even Ryan, my husband, kept teasing me about hot yoga when we were engaged and I was going all of the time. He kept saying yoga is for girly girls that don't really work out. If you go to the Wednesday afternoon class you will see yoga isn't just for girls...a lot of the Seahawks work out there on Wednesday afternoons...and they say it is one of the hardest work outs they have ever done. So finally I challenged Ryan to come to 1 class...he also became hooked and we went together a lot leading up to our wedding day. It was something fun to do as a couple as well!

I really recommend going a couple times a week. It is truly incredible how quickly you can tone up. If you are a new student it is only $10 for the first 10 classes...what a steel!

Signature Cocktails

The signature cocktail is one very easy way to bring your theme or color into your reception. If you are just hosting beer and wine--add this on for something a little different for your guests to indulge in. Sometimes venues do not even allow hard alcohol--so try a champagne cocktail instead! Better yet, host a champagne bar...a bar dedicated to different colored/flavors of champagne. To acheive different colors, add syrup mixer to the champagne (pomagranate, peach, mango, melon, etc.)

To give you all some inspiration for your upcoming menu tastings I thought I would share some of my favorite easy-to-make signature cocktails to coordinate with the color or theme of your wedding.

I like to encourage brides and grooms to come up with funky names for their cocktails that either have significant meaning to them or they are just fun to say.

Since Valentine's Day is on the horizon, I will start with a Flirtini:

Vows in the Vineyard

I wanted to share a table that I designed for an Association of Bridal Consultants meeting. I called it 'Vows in the Vineyard.' I chose a wine themed table because I work a lot within wine country. There are so many different venues that wineries have to offer and I think that winery weddings are so incredibly romantic. There are old wineries opening up new spaces, older wineries with fabulous existing space and there are ALWAYS new wineries opening up with new event spaces. There are wineries on this side of the mountains and there are even more wineries on the east side of the mountains as well! So many to choose from!

I layered three gold linens to give the table a ruffled effect. Then I placed the top of a wine barrel in the middle of the table. Coiling gold wire around the rolled burgundy napkins and fastening a wine cork to the wire tied in the wine theme. The wine bottles had wicks that burned giving the table a romantic light. And yes, those are real grapes!

I think that bridesmaids dress are a way to bring more character to your wedding. I love the idea of mixing and not matching. Colors or styles! Not only to accommodate different girl's body types but to add a little something different to customize your color palate. Here are some of my favorite dress of the season as well as a few pictures that push the envelope when it comes to getting creative with your bridesmaids attire...

As Gray is the new Brown I wanted to start off with a metallic tank top dress by Melissa Sweet. This unique graphite number will be sure to turn heads walking down the aisle.

Here are three playful gray dresses from BCBG that will sure to be effortlessly comfortable at any outdoor wedding.

Yellow is another hot trend for 2009...This casual knee length sundress echos sunshine on a sunny day!

You can't go wrong with black. It is classic and elegant. I love this dress because of the ruffled neckline and the baby doll cut. It is by Alvina Valenta.

Dress your girls pretty...in pink! This sassy magenta spaghetti strapped v-neck dress is by Watters.

For a formal occasion this navy number by Vineyard will look good with any skin tone!

This plum purple knee length dress by David's Bridal accentuates the waist and I just adore the bunched neckline!

This ravishing green dress would look good with so many different accent colors! Pink, Navy, Deep Purple, Yellow or Black, there are so many options!

Funky and sweet describes this adorable lavender dress. Pair with red shoes for a modern twist!

This classic black and white dress can be found at White House-Black Market. It is a retail boutique store you can find in most malls and online. For awesome bridesmaids dresses always keep an eye out at retail stores...you might find what you are looking for at half the price!

Wedding Show Booth

I just wanted to post a few pictures of our both in last weekend's Seattle Wedding Show. Tania from Azzura Photography stopped by to take a few pictures...Thank you again Tania!

We had fun designing this space. Black and Ivory with a touch of Red is one of my ultimate favorite color schemes for a wedding! I think it is so classy and you can dress it up for a black and white ball or dress it down to be casual and funky. You can look back at your wedding pictures in 10 years and still say that was a beautiful wedding! We tried to create a little wedding in our booth...from place settings to the martinis we covered a few unique ways to tie this theme through any black and white wedding reception!

The favorite was the candy escort cards. You can make up one of these vases for every guest so that they can pick it up and it will have their name and table number on it. Once they have picked through all of the candy in their little vase during the reception, they can head over to the "candy bar" where there is multiple vases filled with assorted candies (that match your color scheme) and they can refill it to take it home with them as favor! This is a wonderful way for your guests to have a keepsake from your wedding, while serving a purpose and it won't break the bank!

Julep Nail Parlor

As many of you know we had a fabulous giveaway at the Seattle Wedding Show donated to us by Julep Nail Parlor. Our grand prize was a 6 person Pedicure Party and our second Prize was a Girlfriend's Gift Bag filled with all sorts of goodies! Susanne Kerns is the Event Coordinator for Julep Nail Parlor and she treated Kristi and I to a fabulous Mani and Pedi at the Downtown Parlor! Being a connoisseur of pedicures and all that is spa, I would honestly have to say is was one of the best pedicures I have ever had! Jennifer, my vernisseur at the downtown parlor was so incredibly detailed oriented which as a wedding planner I loved! She was incredibly sweet and fun to talk to!

Sheneil and Cory

Thinking of Sheneil and Cory brings a wide smile to my face. Although I met more with Sheneil and Emilee (her wonderful maid of honor) than Cory I got to know them and get along with them, building a friendship along the way. I liked Sheneil from the moment she interviewed me and it was fun getting to know her over the 9 months of planning. By the time it was their wedding day, when it came time for my client [turned friend] to walk down the aisle, I had a hard time keeping it together as I sent her on her way. I had to quickly wipe the tears of joy off my face and pull it together to get back to work coordinating the wedding. That is one of the best parts of my job. Sending a girl you have come to know down the aisle to her new hubby!

It was a special day and it ended with a big party under the stars! The reception was beautiful. Sheneil, Emilee and I sat down and put our heads together to design her ceremony and reception. She had a pretty good idea of what she wanted and trusted me to do the rest and make it happen. The colors were classic black and white but she wanted to spice up the party by adding magenta. There was a lot of color at this reception, from the pink chair ties to the pink up lighting to the pink champagne, it was truly "Pretty in Pink."

Diana and Jesse

The vision for their special day was that they wanted a traditional church wedding coupled with a dazzling, action packed reception at Echo Falls Country club that encompassed all of their religious and cultural traditions. Their ceremony had a very serious and heart felt tone but by the time they got to their reception, it was a full on party/comedy fest. I don't every think I have seen so much laughter at a wedding reception.

Choosing green, brown and white as their wedding colors, their wedding was filled with white calalilies and green cymbidium orchids. The bridesmaids wore beautiful brown dresses holding bouquets of white calalilies while the bride wore white of course holding a bouquet of white calalilies, white roses, freesia and green orchids. Their reception was a mix of tall and low profile centerpieces giving the room some character. From the simple candle ball set in sand centerpieces to the tall martinis overflowing with long steam calalilies, it was elegant and very chic. The food was delicious and Alex Studio did a great job photographing this elegant wedding. Thank you to Jesse and Diana for choosing me help create this unforgettable night! You guys are awesome!!

Sara Anne and Brendan

Sara Ann and Brendan were the most delightful couple to work with! They are so adventurous in life and they really wanted to bring that aspect to their wedding. They are doctor and school teacher by vocation, but in their spare time they are world travelers, mountain climbers, wine connoisseurs and you can tell they just love to have a good time...although Sara Anne has a tendency to be slightly accident prone. Good thing she is a doctor!

They had many visions for their wedding that were out of the ordinary, but mainly they just wanted good food, good wine and good people around them all having a FUN time. Having a "Green" wedding was also important to them so notice the bamboo place settings in the photo below. Their wedding included a beach, bouquets of wildflowers, "Sand in my Pants" signature cocktails, 11 different wines on the wine list, a scaled down version of Mount Rainer made out of cupcakes, flip flops, custom printed frisbees as favors for all of their guests, a 12 piece band and a choreographed Tango for their first dance. It was sure a night to remember!

Yellow Weddings

A cheerful trend of 2008 and an even hotter wedding trend for 2009. The Yellow Wedding. Yellow is such a happy color for a wedding day and there is so much you can do with it. From lemon centerpieces to custard desserts there are so many beautiful ways to incorporate this color as your main color or as an accent. Yellow is often a wonderful accent to red and orange palate in the summer, green in the spring, brown in the fall and grey in the winter.

You can have an outdoor wedding filled with daisies, yellow checkered linens and lemonade or an upscale hotel wedding filled with breathtaking yellow cymbidium orchids, lemondrops for the ladies and margaritas for the men.

Yellow will bring smiles to a sunny day and sunshine to your rainy day.

I thought I would step away from wedding tips today and switch gears to tips when throwing your own holiday dinner party. Especially to all of you newly weds hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, here are some awesome planning tips and wine pairings:

Too Many People, Not Enough Place Settings?
Instead of rushing out to purchase more of that china and glassware you just received as wedding presents, add even more fall colors to the table by renting fun Thanksgiving china instead! From 50 cents to a dollar per plate, glassware or chargers you will save yourself money while adding festive fall flare to your dinner table. Decorate the Table
Everyone enjoys looking at a beautiful table and it is always fun to decorate! There are many ways to decorate without breaking the budget also... While you are at the rental company picking out your festive place settings, add a couple of festive linens, sheer table cloths or elegant table runners. Renting these will be far less cheaper than purchasing. For a cheaper version to some elaborate flower centerpiece, go purchase a bag of frozen cranberries put them in small vases (that you can also rent at most rental companies) and grab a couple of dozen roses at Costco for only $15.99. Inexpensive and festive all at the same time!

Thanksgiving Wines
Learning about wines is a hobby of mine. I taste multiple wines during wine tastings every week expanding my palate as well as learn lots about food and wine pairings!

Mouthwatering turkey, butternut squash and mashed potatoes deserve some thought when deciding what type of wine to purchase for your Thanksgiving dinner. Pinot Noir is generally the go to red wine to pair with Thanksgiving dinner. While you can spend a lot of money on a Pinot, for a less expensive option, I would recommend Montoya. A $16 Pinot from Oregon that is incredible for the price point.

The White wine I would pair with dinner would have to be Pure Platinum by Kestrel. This is actually a Viognier/Gewurztraminer blend. Although you might think, too sweet..think again. This wine is incredibly rich with citrus fruit and orange blossoms that will pair perfectly with your Thanksgiving Dinner! This wine should only set you back $13 per bottle.

Voter Registrations

There is a concern with some of my brides with regards to changing their name and the election approaching. In the state of Washington you have a 30 day deadline (before the election date) by mail to change your name/address on your voter registration. Your name must match your drivers license/drivers license number. If you happen to miss that 30 day deadline you can go in person to your county elections department 15 days before the election.

European Chocolate Shop

During this busy season I have come across this wonderful chocolate shop in Kirkland. It is called Sweet Caroline's owned and operated my Ms. Caroline herself! I ordered chocolate seashells for a beach wedding as wedding favors for a bride. While I was there I peered over the counter to a tray of fresh out-of-the oven filled with chocolate chip cookies. They looked delightful, so I just had to try one. She gave me two just because she was being nice. I said, " I will just give the other one to my husband when I get home."

Needless to say I had eaten both of them by the time I got home. They were the best chocolate chip cookies ever! I highly recommend Sweet Caroline's Chocolate Bar for all of your wedding favors and treats. She can put together a chocolate bar for your wedding reception also! She has every kind of chocolate you can think of and the price is right as well!

Walking Down the Aisle with the Greatest of Ease

Alright ladies, here it is, plain and simple...Your Guide to walking down the aisle with ease.

No matter what the ceremony or culture, there is always an element of production involved with a wedding ceremony. Here are a few tips to think about before you walk down the aisle.

Right before you walk down the aisle take 3 big deep breaths to help sooth the overwhelming emotions you will be feeling and slow down your heart rate!
Wear a Matte lipstick and NOT lip gloss. You don't want your veil sticking to your lips.
Brides always get nervous and hold their bouquet too high. (Bridesmaids too!) Practice in a mirror at home to find your most flattering placement. Don't hide your beautiful waistline! The bouquet should be carried at hip height NOT at your waist. The exception to the rule would be a very small bouquet, which should be carried at your belly button.
SLOW DOWN as you walk down the aisle. Dad and Bride need to practice the pace ahead of time. During the rehearsal, practice walking down the aisle a couple of times. You don' t have to pause between steps like in the movies, just a slow stride will do.
Remind your dad or whom ever is walking you down the aisle to be aware of the train if your dress has one. You don't want him tripping over your dress trying to get to his seat!
As soon as you arrive at the altar or chuppah, hand over your bouquet to the Maid of Honor. If she is on train duty, make sure she hands over the bouquets to the next in line for safe keeping.
If you think you might cry or well up with tears as you walk down the aisle it would be a good idea to give your maid of honor a tissue for you to have once you have reached the altar.
Don't hold your breath! Breathe, breathe, breathe as you walk down the aisle!!!

For the Groom

The wedding isn't just about the bride anymore. More and more grooms are stepping up and having a say on what goes on during their special day. I think it is great that grooms are taking more interest and there are so many ways to bring in his personality to the day of the wedding.

Here are 5 ways to bring out the groom's personality the day of the wedding:

What to wear? After the bride and the groom decide on a style that coincides with the wedding and reception, have the groom dress himself. Signature Drink. So many weddings now have a signature cocktail to reflect the color or theme of the wedding. Why not have 2 signature drinks -- One the ladies can sip on that reflects the bride's taste and one that the men can enjoy that the groom picks out.

Honeymoon. Maybe the groom doesn't want anything to do with planning the wedding. Have him plan the honeymoon. Either you both decide on a destination and he plans the details or there was this bride and groom that decided he would plan the whole honeymoon and not tell his bride where they were going until they were checking in to get their boarding pass. (Of course he told her the climate and what to pack for.) She was so excited when she found out she was going to Jamaica!

Getaway Car. This is for the man who wants to make a statement driving his bride away from the reception. This is such a fun new trend. Things to Remember:

If you are a man that perspires a lot and/or you are getting married outside on a sunny day, it would be wise to bring an extra dress shirt to change into for the reception.

If you are buying your shoes, make sure to break them in. Wear them to your dance lessons or around the house...but do not wear them outside! Make sure your shoes are in pristine condition the day of the wedding!

Make sure you try on the tux or suit close to the wedding so that if there are any alterations that need to be made it can be done. Also if you are renting a tux, make sure to check and see if you have everything. The cuff links, sox, kerchief, shoes that are both the right size, etc.

Remember this is your wedding day, so please limit the alcohol intake before the ceremony. Make sure the groomsman are aware of how special this day means to you also!

Bachelorette Party Ideas

We have all heard of the wild nights in Vegas or the embarrassing strip club stories. While those are parties are fun, I thought I would share a few ideas of some bachelorette parties that will fit a variety of different brides:

"Playing Through!"
Get out your plaid short shorts and knee high argyle socks, "We are going golfing!" Well, sort of...Get all dressed up and pick 3-5 holes (bars) to attend that evening. Walk from bar to bar, rent a limo to drive you from hole to hole or make sure you have a designated driver! This is a great idea that can be done anywhere on any budget! This is a fun themed bachelorette party that will be sure to attract attention and create memories that will never be forgotten!

Slumber Party
This is a great idea for a bachelorette party on a budget. Choose someone's house or cabin and host a slumber party like the good old days. Tease the pizza delivery man and break out the DVD's (Sex and the City is always a good option) and pink frozen drinks. This is a good time to bond up and relax with one another before the big day!

Beach House & Wine Tasting
You can rent a house on the beach on the Oregon coast that is actually affordable if you have a group of people. Road trip to Oregon for the weekend! For the bride that doesn't care much for the party, getaway to a spa for the weekend! Relax, Rejuvenate and Unwind with your girlfriends! There are plenty of great spas in Seattle or plan a weekend spa getaway to Victoria, Canada or Laguna Beach, California.

3 Day Cruise
Off Season is the best time to plan for a 3 day Mexican or Californian cruise. The prices are not as bad as you would think! This is a great idea for any number of bridal parties...because on a cruise there are so many things you can do!

Houseboat
For a bridal party that is ready for an adventure! You can rent a houseboat in Washington or travel down to the Trinity Lakes in California. This will truly be a remarkable experience!! A Few Wedding Reminders!

As wedding season is upon us, I thought that I would share a few things to remember for the month leading up to your wedding through to your wedding day. Being as prepared as you can for the day of your wedding will ensure a smoother wedding celebration!!

Break in your SHOES!! And just in case that doesn't work for the day of your wedding, make sure to place a more comfortable pair of shoes under the chair at your reception that you can change into if needed.

Remember to BOOK your MANICURE AND PEDICURE for the day before the wedding about a month out. Nail Salons and Spas are very busy on Fridays and you don't want to wait until the last minute to book!

Review and Confirm HONEYMOON travel reservations! Also remember to make reservations for any special restaurants, outings, spa appointments or sporting events you would like to take part in on your honeymoon.

WAIT to change your name...until after you return from your honeymoon! The name on your airline ticket has to match the name on your passport and driver's license. The last thing you are going to want to do is be held up at the airport before your honeymoon!

Make sure to stock up on all PRECRIPTIONS for your honeymoon! ie: Birth Control, Disposable Contact Lenses, Allergy Meds, etc.

About a month or two before your wedding, visit your DOCTOR to ensure that your "cycle" will not interfere with your wedding or honeymoon!! I have already seen a catastrophy at a wedding this year!! Also, make sure you are prepared for ANY surprises on your wedding day!!

Keep checking your REGISTRIES up until a few days before the wedding to ensure that there are gifts still available at all price points.

Confirm and Reconfirm your WEDDING NIGHT HOTEL reservation!!!

Make Arrangements for your PET while you are out of town, have NEWSPAPERS and MAIL stopped and remember to arrange transportation to and from the airport if you are flying out of town for your honeymoon.

About one month out, obtain your MARRIAGE LICENSE and make sure it will still be valid through your wedding day. They held the festive receptions in the garden under the stars. Every single one of my senses was captivated by these weddings. From the sheer beauty of the crystal cleer ocean to the smells of the salty breeze and authentic catering, these weddings were truly remarkable!

A French Tradition: Cortège

This is a tradition you might want to incorporate into your ceremony if you have a lot of younger children in your extended family that would like to be in your wedding.

Usually 2-8 children are involved in the ceremony.

…Usually 2 little girls and 1 little boy walk down the aisle acting as the ring bearers. The Father and Bride follow.
Then 2-4 more children walk down the aisle after the bride to assist with the dress, veil, etc.

All of the children exit first in the recession, sprinkling rose petals for the bride and groom to walk over.
